I had the idea to create art that mirrored the movement of a dancer in real life. I love the way they sway, pirouette and jump and wanted to capture this on paper. With this in mind I created a painting with a spray technique to convey the motion.
To make these paintings slightly different I decided to only paint the clothes and shoes and leave the skin areas in pencil. I think this creates a nice contrast. The painting part has been done in a light watercolour wash. The paper used is a crisp white Bristol Board which lends itself well to pencil drawing because it is so smooth, allowing some nice shading.
As with all the paintings, each one is an original. You may start to see a few duplicates in different colours but they are still original paintings/pencil drawings. If you are looking for something in a particular colour let me know.
The majority have been painted on A3 paper (29cm x 42cm) but some have been painted on A2 (42cm x 59cm). I think the larger paper works well as it gives more space around the painting.
